Put this date in your diary the weekend of the 20th-22nd October.
This, the weekend that will be hosting the epic Aussie Kiss Festival in its fifth year, will be the best you'll have in 2006
Join us at Bude Holiday Park and Roadford Lake for some extreme partying and plenty of on water action:
LATEST NEWS:
- Windsurfing
There will be coaching for all standards of windsurfers among you.
- First timers
If you've never stepped on a board before then the beginner group is for you. You will be taught by RYA qualified instructors in a safe, sheltered environment with plenty of rescue cover. All the basic windsurfing techniques will be taught and you'll have the opportunity to put it all into practise on the water.
- Improvers
Beachstarting, harness work, ability to get around a smaller board, desire for more excitement, or even footstraps if any or all of these apply to you then you will fall into our intermediate group. Here our first pro coach, Jim Collis of Windsurf magazine fame, will be dishing out the best advise and top coaching tips aiming to get you planing and turning with ease.
- Hot shots
Which leaves the advanced group - the advanced fleet is aimed at those who can waterstart and are in the footstraps. Its up to you to decide where you fit in!
There will be sessions being given by pro coaches and olympic stars:
We have got Boards and Boardseeker magazine regular Jem Hall and Olympic coach Olly Woodcock and Olympic windsurfer and SWATeam member Hugh Sims-Williams on hand to deliver their pearls of wisdom.
Between them they'll be offering clinics on carve gybing, freestyle, and racing and basically answering any of your questions and aiming to get you improving fast.
In our push to get the girls on boards, there will also be a ladies clinic with pro windsurfers Tanya Saleh and Camilla French. Come on girls, get involved!!
- Competition and Demos
In addition to the tuition we'll be hosting the SWA speed challenge. You'll get the chance to see who's fastest using our gps watch.
And there's more show how much style and skill you have in the first event in the Boardwise Freestyle competition series.
New to this year's event will be a land windsurfing demo from Turfdog, the new brand of land windsurf boards, with the inventor Adam Cropper.
As usual there will be some fantastic prizes from our generous sponsors and we'll also be announcing the overall prizes for the 2006/2007 series.
We are also very fortunate to be able to welcome all of our sponsors and more (listed below) who will be bringing lots of lovely demo kit for you all to try throughout the weekend.
- Party!
And the possibly the most important bit about the weekend; the huge AK5 party hosted by Bude Holiday park with live band I.D.Ology returning after their triumphant set last year to once again deliver the goods. The theme for the party is Caribbean so break out those rasta, pirate and any other costumes with tenuous caribbean links.
- Getting there
What do I need to do to get involved? I hear you cry. Well you need to get back to uni and badger your windsurf club president until they let you come along. If you have any problems tracking a windsurf club down at your uni then get in touch here.
If you are a RYA qualified instructor then you can get a massively discounted price for the event if you teach for part of it. We can not run the event without you.
We are proud to be supporting Climate Care and Surfers Against Sewage through the event. We will be updating this page so keep an eye out for more info soon!
